“A Step of Faith (part one)”  by Fran Brown

Faith is taught as an essential ingredient of Christianity. It is the foundation of our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It is the ability to believe that God is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. “For without faith it is impossible to please God.” (Hebrews 11:16) (Hebrews 11:1) in the KJV states that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen.” The same scripture in the NLT says: “What is Faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot see.”

Faith is pivotal in the life of every believer; and therefore needs to be nourished with regular bible study, prayer, church attendance, and obedience to God. It is by faith that every Christian comes into agreement with God through confession of sin, with a heartfelt desire to change, and the acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior. Becoming a Christian, a born-again believer and child of God, takes more than a nod and a hand shake. It takes action! “For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10)
